I’m going to be taking a short break from this Substack for a while. I’ve written close to a hundred posts, and I’ve still got a lot of things bouncing around in my head, largely on the topics of happiness, productivity, and aging, but I’ve had to admit to myself that I don’t have the time to write them in the way I want to tackle them.
Realistically, it’ll likely be winter before I start writing Unhack Your Brain again. To a large extent, it’s because I’m overloaded with other commitments, particularly work-related projects. I’m also very conscious that I haven’t spent nearly enough time on the novel that I wanted to finish writing last winter, so I want to get back to that.
But also, I want to get away from writing short blog posts and try to create something a little more in-depth: fewer posts, but make each one something that’s really worth reading and thought-provoking. That means I need to spend more time constructing and writing each piece - they’re not simply something I can dash out on a Sunday morning.
So, bear with me. I’ll be back!
Sounds like a good plan of practising what you're preaching [writing]
Will Storr says it takes him between 2-4 weeks to write a good post - time to think and plan, to draft, to write and then rewrite.
Look forward to Unhack's return x
